The Mindful Birding Project

We are excited to introduce you to mindful birding, a powerful approach to birding that deepens our connection with birds and the natural world. Richardson Bay Audubon is proud to offer a free workshop on Saturday, March 22nd that will empower participants with new ways to strengthen their appreciation of nature within their communities. Join us to learn how to host a mindful birding experience for nature lovers near you.

Whether it's observing a goldfinch delicately pecking at a sunflower seed or witnessing a raptor stealthily hunting its prey, the profound sense of wonder experienced when we slow down and immerse ourselves in nature is truly remarkable. Research demonstrates the mental and physical health advantages derived from engaging with the natural world. Mindful birding uses the outdoors and birds to deepen our understanding of the environment.

As workshop participants learn the elements of mindful birding and how to inclusively and accessibly weave them into their bird programs and field trips, mindful birding can reach new audiences. The workshop will model how to share this healthy practice, recruit new members from underrepresented populations, and build awareness of nature.

This event is designed for individuals within Audubon chapters, other nature-related organizations that lead field trips or other programming, or those interested in the intersections between human health and the environment.

Participants will leave the event equipped to...

•    facilitate mindful birding programming of their own, using new techniques in field trips and workshops.
•    build lasting and diverse partnerships in their community.
•    spark and rekindle an appreciation of birds and nature in others.

Space is limited! Register and view the full event details here.
