Audubon California Digital Content Production

We have been busy advocating for birds and engaging our communities virtually!

During the tenuous times of COVID-19, center staff – like many of you – are sheltering-in-place and working from home. From our home offices, we’ve seen that people throughout California and beyond have yearned to spend time in nature and it is clear to all of us at Audubon, that our mission to engage communities and share our love of birds is more important than ever. So, to help weather this pandemic, center staff have been busy creating innovate and exciting digital programs to help stay in touch with our network, members, volunteers, and supporters.

From webinars on endangered species to more bite sized videos with backyard birding tips and nature crafts, we’ve created new programs and content to keep birds in your lives when we can't reach you in person. Every webinar produced is also cross-posted on our social media platforms, which has allowed Audubon staff to interact with participants live through chat boxes. If you’ve missed our new programs, don’t worry! We also recorded and uploaded them to our YouTube channel, so they can be enjoyed beyond COVID-19.

Our most popular program to-date was a first session of a three part series hosted by John Muir Laws, a well-known Bay Area naturalist, teacher, and artist. The kick-off class hosted nearly 20,000 participants across multiple digital platforms and afforded artists the opportunity to share their artwork by using the hashtag #drawbirds2020.
